I mentioned several times on these pages that I would not tune in for what was destined to be the most ridiculous presidential debate in my lifetime.
I lied.
I opened up a split screen in my office, one was the WSJ live debate feed, the other a Bloomberg live blog with coverage and analysis.
I was prepared to settle in and search for substance.
It didn’t take long for me to power off.
Why did I even try?
When I walked away from my desk down the hallway to my bedroom, pondering the future of our country, a very familiar, very cynical fatalistic chuckle bubbled to the surface…
This is the best we can do?
Yes. This is where are at in this moment in time.
If you came here for my opinion, I certainly do apologize.
That’s the one great freedom of writing your own blog because you get to choose the what/when/why/if, every single day.
In this particular case I will defer.
Is it sad?
Yes.
Am I concerned?
Maybe, depends on what I am to be concerned about?
The future?
Doesn’t really matter which invalid occupies the White House, time and events will march on.
Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
James 4:14
The market?
Doesn’t really matter which invalid occupies the White House, the market will price in the future for me. Usually 6 months in advance. Adjust accordingly.
This is the best we can do?
Yes. This is where we are at this moment in time.
So be it.
All that said, if you want the only debate recap you need to watch, I present Exhibit A:
Feel free to laugh your ass off, that’s really the only way to cope with reality as it bears down.
