Markets ended the week with a whimper as we get ready for another key week of inflation data. Earnings season is still in full swing, but the CPI print will be the focal point.

Monday
I will be watching OWL earnings before the bell. This relatively new firm has been firing on all cylinders and will provide some clarity on what the private equity landscape and opportunities for capital deployment look like. They will likely raise their dividend again and reiterate their inflation resistant model. CDNS after the bell is a good read on tech spending.
Tuesday
All about the CPI released at 8:30. Consensus is 6.2% on the heels of the 6.5% read last month. Any movement outside of that consensus higher or lower will likely move markets. Too hot and that means inflation is not coming down as fast, too cold and it means a recession is more likely. You could almost pre-print the headlines and hit send whether it is higher or lower.

Earnings from COKE before the bell might shed some light on consumer spending trends while ABNB and UPST after the bell will provide some color on travel and borrowing trends.
WEDNESDAY
Retail sales at 8:30 and “consumer resiliency” will be the focus, especially after the Tuesday read on inflation. RBLX and TTD before the bell for some tech flavor, SHOP will be the key play after the close.
Thursday
PPI numbers and housing starts will kick things off at 8:30 and then earnings from DDOG and SHAK. Earnings from DASH and HTGC after the bell. Hercules will provide some color on venture capital and how healthy Silicon Valley spending is. The higher rates are tail winds for the BDC’s and as long as loans are being repaid, they should report well. I see a lot of dividend increases and/or supplemental payouts being announced remainder of the year.
Disclosure: I own HTGC in two retirement accounts.
Friday
DE before the bell, a good economic bellwether for the appetite for large ticket spending. Not much else going on except for readings on Import and Export prices. I will probably appreciate a slow Friday at that point, I have a feeling it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
I will worry about that later, got a game to watch tomorrow and then I am sure my spring fever will be full tilt as the mercury is expected to (briefly) rise.
Have a good week.
